Gorillas talking about death? What!?

This article in The Atlantic is a must-read for anyone interested in anthropology or animal intelligence. As I read, I could feel the grey matter oozing out my ears. My brain was melting.

Seriously, I don’t know what to think. Do gorillas and other primates really have a concept of death? Of something being alive or not alive? Or did Koko, the talking gorilla, just happen to make a couple of signs that seemed to make sense when asked a question concerning death.

You decide and let me know what you think.
